  • Your vehicle may be deemed unroadworthy if the windscreen wiper system is ineffective.
  • Frost, heat, insects, ozone and UV radiation can all cause high-quality rubber blades to degrade after six months of use.
  • You should replace wiper blades every 12 months (or earlier if necessary) to maintain optimum driving safety.

To check for worn blades, run your thumb down a blade and if you can feel its worn (splitting or pitted), it’s time to change the rubber.

Additional signs of wear can also include:

  • Uneven clearing of water when the wipers are in motion.
  • Smears on the screen when in operation
  • Unusual noise of chattering as the blades struggle to glide over the glass smoothly
  • Windscreen wiper frame is in contact with the glass
  • A change in colour of some blades, which also indicates replacement is required.
